The Insta Slim has to be one of my favorite As Seen On TV products to be introduced in a while because there is so much to talk about. From an As Seen On TV standpoint the Insta Slim has all the makings of a classic silly product, but from a functional standpoint it's a great idea that actually works.
So, do I rip it or do tell the world of it's glory. I think I'll do both. After all, who can I let the concept of a man bra slip by? Seinfeld couldn't. Remember the episode when Kramer invented the Bro but George's dad wanted to market it under the name Manssiere because he felt "Bro" was too ethnic? It was one of the best Seinfeld bits ever but they had a point. I'll never forget George's personal crying game and would never wear a Manssiere, but the Insta Slim is a different story.
Mens Undergarments
I'm not going to admit that I need Insta Slim undergarments, I'm just gonna say that I ordered it for product review purposes only and to see if they worked. I like to see myself like those people in the Windows 7 commercials. I know the world doesn't see me that way so if I continue to use the Insta Slim undershirts, you'll never know. Well, alright, you dragged it out of me, there's no reason not to wear them. They're Great!
Let's put the comedic aspect of a slimming undergarment for men (doesn't that sound better?) aside for a moment and get back to it when we look at the commercial. For all practical purposes this product makes sense for a lot of men. I've never had much of a gut and I wouldn't say that I have love handles that are problematic, but I've never been able to tighten up that chest.
Even when I was in the best shape of my life and MMA Workouts like a madman, it seemed that mo matter how strong my chest muscles became, the layer of fat around them just got pushed out further. There was really no hope of having a well defined chest and I just chalked it up to genetics. Now I'm not overweight and I have a thin frame but I'm not comfortable in fitted shirts because they don't accentuate my frame, they just seem to draw attention to my man boobs.
In my case I'm probably the only one who notices but let's face it, we've all seen them around. I never could understand why Simon from American Idle always insisted on wearing those shiny tee-shirts that always highlighted his saggy chest. I've seen paparazzi photos of him on the beach and he looks better without a shirt than within one! But what can you really do about it. In his case I'm surprised he hasn't had liposuction because he's so openly vain but for us normal guy who face the inevitable sagging as we age there is a solution.
The solution is a slimming undergarment. Slimming undergarments have always been accepted in fashion for women. In fact, throughout history they've often been celebrated. But for men it's kind of taboo. Admitting that we care about our appearance has always been a bit of touchy subject for us but now we don't have to do anything but wear a special undershirt to help hide our beer bellies, love handles, man boobs and back bulges. It's pretty brilliant if you ask me because we wear undershirts anyway!
But, as always, let's look at the silly As Seen On TV commercial and laugh a little. It does seem a little weird but the Insta Slim looks like a regular fitted undershirt doesn't it?

Insta Sim Review
OK I feel a little funny after watching that but it's not as crazy as a man bra. First the Insta Slim offer comes I.A. Athletics who make the garments but I expect to see a new Ad soon for the big As Seen On TV push. I think Insta Slim will prove better for mass marketing.
So the undershirts looked pretty good on video and I can only speak for the crew but they look pretty good in person too. The claim is that wearing the Insta Slim can cut 1 to 3 inches from your mid-section but I don't know how to measure that when wearing it. And further, I went with a large even though I'm a size 40. The size chart says I should be a medium but I wanted the large just to be safe.
When It comes down to ordering, the total price for the crew is about $50. It's $39.95 plus $9.95 shipping so it's a bit more than a fitted tee shirt but in my opinion well worth it. I only ordered 1 but you can save if you choose the 3 pack. The tanks are less expensive but are useless to me. I just don't like tanks under my clothes.
The material is a blend of nylon and spandex but to me looks just as nice as a cotton shirt. My fit was snug but not uncomfortable and when you put on your button down or even another loose fitting tee you can see the difference. It's hard to explain but you just look slimmer. I liken it to holding in your gut when a girl walks by but in this case you get support in the chest and lower back which hides the inches.
My problem with the Insta Slim is that once you wear one you want to wear them all the time. This can be a pricey proposition because washing it a lot takes motivation. It's best to not use a dryer and line dry them. Also, I like to iron my tee-shirts but this is not recommended with the Insta Slim. So line dry or cold fluff in the dryer is best. I have not ordered more shirts but I'm going to. They will all be white crews, I'm not gonna bother with the black for now. I don't have a problem with the white shining through a dark fabric and even if I did, it's just an undershirt so nobody would take a second look.
After a couple of washes and wears, my Insta Slim is holding up well. I have no irritation from wearing it and my man boobs are practically gone. Well, they don't show when I wear my undershirt. I think because of today's styles there is more of a demand for this type of thing. Everything is so fitted and slim that it can be hard for guys to feel confident, but even as the pendulum swings back to looser fitting clothes, I think that as long as undershirts are worn, there will be a place for the slimming ones.
Now I don't believe you can find I.A. undergarments in stores as noted in the commercial so if you want to try one, you'll have to order online. I think the Insta Slim offer is going to be very popular and perhaps one day we'll see it in stores.

I'm thinking about this product as I eat a bag of cheetos. What's wrong with this picture?
